Meet Kate
Hi, my name is Kate (she/her/hers). I am a relational therapist who strives to live a values-driven life and help you do the same. I believe in the inherent vulnerability of being human and the power in owning our stories. I am not here for the “quick fix,” I am here to walk with you, hold space for you, and grow with you.
I came to social work by way of advocacy, which means I will work hard to be a voice for you. Within each of us lives innate wisdom, passion, and purpose; one of my greatest joys is joining you in that path of self discovery, throwing out the notion that there’s one specific map we must follow, and exploring. We are not meant to walk through this life alone—as humans, we are wired for connection. In that connection we find belonging, and in that belonging we find healing.
“When we liberate ourselves from the expectation that we must have all things figured out, we enter a sanctuary of empathy.”
Sonya Renee Taylor, “The Body Is Not an Apology: The Power of Radical Self-Love”
Here’s what’s up
Therapy is a collaborative effort. I’m not here to tell you what to do, I’m not a gatekeeper of answers. You are the expert of your own life. Sometimes that can get muddled, which is where I come in. Together, we will work to find clarity in your life and unearth that innate wisdom. I can offer knowledge and insight that comes from years of training, doing this work with others, and doing my own work. Your journey, however, is uniquely your own.
That being said, I’m not the “blank slate” therapist. You deserve to have a real, invested person in the room with you, someone willing to get into the nitty gritty of it all. We’ll talk about some hard things. We’ll also laugh. There might be some sarcasm and cursing, too. I promise to bring my genuine and authentic self to the room, just as I ask you to do.
